The Rock-N-Roll half was awesome (except for the heat and hills) and got me excited to do another half (hence the quick sign up).

Carol, Steven and our other friend Erica have signed up too, and we are all looking forward to a fun weekend in Athens and a race around the town we went to college in. A cool thing about the race is that we will be running by Carol's and my sorority house and will end with a lap around the UGA football field in Sanford Stadium (though it probably won't be filled with 98,000 people like on game days).

The race is October 21 (a Sunday, boo) which means we are 81 days, or 12 weeks, out. That also means that training starts now. I hate running in the heat so I basically took the summer off and have just been doing classes at the gym, but now it's time to get serious.
I made a training schedule for myself based on Hal Higdon's Novice 2 plan. I adapted it a little to include more cross/weight training days, yoga once a week, and some fun races for my long runs. Hopefully I will do a better job this time around of chronicling my training (and won't stop after week 10) and my new running adventures.
Random side note - if you live in Atlanta and haven't been to American Roadhouse it's definitley time to check it out. Steven and I met our friends Molly, Ryan and Kramer there yesterday morning for brunch, and it was delicious. We used to go there a lot more when I lived in the Highlands, but it's been a while since I've been back. This place has moved back up on our restaurant list after the great food and great service we had this morning.
